NEXT GENERATION MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Position Title: Next Generation Ministry Director

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Location: Parkview Church, Lilburn, GA

Position Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The Next Gen. Ministry Director is responsible for overseeing and leading the spiritual development, education, and growth of the children and youth of Parkview church, ranging from infants through high school. This role requires someone passionate about equipping young people with a biblical foundation, fostering meaningful relationships with Jesus Christ, and encouraging active participation in the church community. The ideal candidate will be gifted at working with people and will demonstrate strong leadership, creativity, and a heart for discipleship.

Key Responsibilities**

  1. Vision and Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for children’s and youth ministries that aligns with the church’s mission and values.
  • Provide spiritual leadership, direction, and oversight for all children’s and youth ministry activities.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers, teachers, and youth leaders to support ministry goals.
  • Partner with church leadership to integrate children and youth into the broader life of the church.
  1. Program Development and Management:
  • Plan and oversee weekly programs (e.g., Sunday School, mid-week youth groups) and special events (outreach, activities, mission trips, retreats).
  • Develop age-appropriate curriculum for both children and youth, ensuring it is biblically sound, engaging, and relevant.
  • Encourage regular participation in Sunday services and organize age-specific worship experiences.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts and engage in key community-building opportunities, in order to reach out, gather and influence, children, youth, and their families.
  1. Discipleship and Mentorship:
  • Foster a Christ-centered community where children and youth can grow in their faith, ask questions, and build meaningful relationships.
  • Provide counseling and spiritual guidance to children, youth, and families as needed.
  • Mentor young people in leadership and service, helping them discover and develop their spiritual gifts.
  • Engage with students outside of regular programs through school visits, sporting events, and personal connections.
  1. Parent and Family Engagement:
  • Serve as a resource and partner to parents, offering guidance on family discipleship and faith development at home.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on ministry activities and seek feedback for improvement.
  • Organize family events and workshops that promote the spiritual health of the entire family.
  1. Administration and Communication:
  • Manage the ministry budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of church resources.
  • Maintain records of attendance, volunteer involvement, and program participation.
  • Promote children’s and youth events through church newsletters, social media, and other communication platforms.
  • Ensure all ministry activities comply with the church’s child protection policies and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: M. Div., MATS, Masters in Youth Ministry (preferred) or enrolled or pursuing seminary.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in children’s or youth ministry leadership, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrated commitment to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, with a strong understanding of the Bible and sound Christian theology.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire volunteers, students, and families.
  • Relational: A passion for building relationships with children, youth, and their families.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to connect with diverse age groups.
  • Creativity: Ability to create engaging, relevant programs and lessons that resonate with young people.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with digital tools, social media, and other forms of communication.

Work Environment:

  • Hours are flexible but include weekends and evenings, especially for youth group meetings, special events, and Sunday services.
  • The role involves regular interaction with children, youth, parents, volunteers, and church leadership. 

Pay: 50-70k Based on experience

James and his family recently moved here from Philadelphia PA to serve as our Lead Pastor. He is married to his wife Elizabeth and has two children, James Jr. and Hudson. He is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary. Over the last five years James has been involved in church planting and church revitalization. James brings new passion and vision to the life and ministry of Parkview. In his spare time he enjoys exercise, travel, wrestling matches on the couch with his sons, and late night episodes of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix.
