In our modern-day English language, there is a phrase that we use to express the value of family. It says, “Blood is thicker than water.” However, this phrase, dating back to the 12th century, originally said, “The blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb.” It was originally used to emphasize the opposite point that the bonds we make by choice are more important than our ties to family. Both family and friendship are vital things made by God for our blessing and benefit, but in Mark chapter 3, Jesus arrives on the scene and teaches something else. James and his family recently moved here from Philadelphia PA to serve as our Lead Pastor. He is married to his wife Elizabeth and has two children, James Jr. and Hudson. He is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary. Over the last five years James has been involved in church planting and church revitalization. James brings new passion and vision to the life and ministry of Parkview. In his spare time he enjoys exercise, travel, wrestling matches on the couch with his sons, and late night episodes of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix.
